Self-motivation could be simply defined as your ability to accomplish your goals and desires without any help or influence of someone else.

Being able to find a key to motivation is like finding a key to your own happiness and success.

If you manage to acquire the skills to motivate yourself and others then you will possess the basic tools to reach almost anything that you expect from life.

Perhaps you have been thinking of taking up a motivation course to learn and explore how to achieve and maintain enthusiasm needed to move forward?

Although on one hand such courses can be very good, it's generally agreed that results are often only short lasting.

You need a right dose of self-motivation on daily basis in order to continue moving in the right direction so that you feel inspired enough to accomplish all that you want.

Lots of people believe in self-motivation as a driving factor in any achievement, yet they lack the skills to implement it.

2. Set a Deadline and Visualize the Completion

In order to avoid procrastination you should set yourself a reasonable time to achieve each of your tasks.

You’re more likely to complete a project if you impose a realistic deadline.

You know you will get what you deserve in the end and this will fill you with renewed motivation.

3. Improve Your Surroundings

Even a small change in your environment can give you a different outlook on your life.

It could be something as simple as buying a new plant for your home or office, or bringing more light into your place.

Also, try to surround yourself with positive people!

You will be able to absorb their good energy.

4. Do Something Good For Others

If you can help or assist other people in reaching their goals you will find motivation and energy within yourself.

5. Boost Your Confidence

Take a look into yourself and you may realize that you are already more successful than you think.

6. Make Your Work Fun!

If your work stimulates you it doesn’t seem like work at all.

Concentrate on a variety of tasks which take you that step closer to achieving your goal.

Hi Katrine!

Thank you for this well thought out and presented hub on an oft discussed topic. There are so many opinions out there about motivation that this subject can be confusing to someone trying to muddle through a difficult task or newly created goal.

You made getting or finding our personal motivation simple, direct and enjoyable to do. It's a great start!

I would add taking on a partner, coach or confident who can be trusted to be encouraging. There's no need to live life by ourselves in a world full of wonderful people. In fact, it's a lot more fun when we can share our successes and not so damaging when the inevitable pitfalls arise!

I have personally found that the space that surrounds us is so important in order to keep well, feel well, and think well. If we are happy with ourselves and people who are part of our life, and everyone we care about is well too, then everything somehow looks nicer and easier. Once you are happy inside yourself you can concentrate on your tasks and goals and enjoy going forward.
